WHO WE ARE

The Lakeside Angling Club has been around for a lot of years but has had to take a back seat during the Covid Outbreak so has not been as visible and it use to be.

In cooperation with Gateshead Council we continue to manage the fishing on the lake at Red Barns Pond (also called Pelaw quarry pond or Pelaw Nature Reserve).  The lake is accessible from Mill Lane, Hebburn with parking on the grass verge opposite the car wash (please note that parking at the Cock Crow Inn is for customers only). As a registered fishing club we are also affiliated with the Tyne Anglers Alliance (TAA)  which gives our members access to other waters in the Tyneside area.

Membership costs £15 per adult, Oap's and Disabled £8 and Juniors up to 16 years old FREE

All children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

(Children under 13 years old do not need a membership card but the club will issue one if requested but we do require a completed membership form and photograph for them ).

Benefits of LAC Membership

As a member of the LAC (st) you have the right to legally fish our water Red Barnes Pond (also called Pelaw Nature Reserve Water) but it doesn’t stop there.  Due to our affiliation with the TAA you are also entitled to fish 4 other waters in the Northeast.  We also have an ‘exchange ticket’ scheme (which we hope to expand this year) in operation with SFAC allowing you to fish their waters (you must have the correct ticket which is issued by our club).  The club leases our water from Gateshead Council and has good relationship with them, we also liaise with the  the Pelaw Quarry Nature Reserve group to help care for and manage the area.

Please click here for information on fish species etc.

Please note!  Fishing is from official (metal) pegs only!

There is good disabled access to several pegs around the lake.

Please remember this is a nature reserve and as such you are expected to take all trash away with you.  The area has neither toilets or waste paper bins so whatever you take with you please take away when you leave.
